This is a QWERTY-based phonetic keyboard for novice learners with limited knowledge of the Thamizh alphabet. It follows the Brāhmī orthographic convention of omitting the a/ə/அ inherent in consonants, e.g. ரமாரமி is typed in as [ rmarmi ] not [ ramArami ] or [ ramaarami ].
